Biography
In 1989, Duncan Chisholm, a first-class exponent of the traditional Scottish Highland fiddle, along with vocalist and acoustic guitarist, Stuart Eaglesham, formed ‘Wolfstone’.
Later that year and with all the other ‘embryonic’ members of the initial line-up firmly in place, the band performed their launch-pad gig at the very first Highland Traditional Music Festival in Dingwall.
The rest as they say, is history, and for more than 21 years, Wolfstone, with Duncan and Stuart and long term Piper Stevie Saint, as the mainstays of the band’s line-up, have taken their living, breathing, adrenalin inducing version of the evolving folk tradition across the World.
With several highly successful performances at major Festivals in the UK, Continental Europe and Scandinavia last year; including the renowned Celtic Connections, the Gosport Easter Festival, the Burns Festival, The Wickham Festival, the award winning Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival and the superb Tonder Festival (Denmark) plus many more in Spain and Switzerland, etc; Wolfstone is well proven as a very popular 'Festival' band and guaranteed to have any crowd singing and dancing the night away!
Wolfstone’s success can also undoubtedly, be attributed to their ability to transfer their highly acclaimed recorded material to the most fantastic and unforgettable live performances; the ultimate in Traditional/Rock Fusion music. This ability has seen the band follow its Highland roots from the small village halls of Scotland to headlining major festivals throughout the world since its inception in 1989.
Wolfstone is quite simply a band that believes in the strength and spirit of its music and in 2010, celebrated 21 years of live performances throughout the UK, Europe, Scandinavia, Canada and the USA along with the release Worldwide, of 9 highly acclaimed albums.
Wolfstone’s current line-up is undoubtedly, the most vibrant and exciting ever and their unique blend of electric and acoustic guitars, fiddle, pipes and pulsating percussion, all combined with a dynamic stage presence, remain well-known hallmarks of this unique band.
